associate is needed and how much owner income , if any , will need to be sacrificed in the onboarding phase of an associate .
For practice owners needing to take a step back in work load by either working fewer days per week or seeing fewer patients , predictable practice growth is not necessary . However , predictable practice production is essential because the successfulness of the associate will be tracked by watching the practice continue to be predictably productive . Envision which portion of the practice will be turned over to the associate . Will specific patients be given to the associate ? Will certain procedures be given to the associate ?
In sharing the current patient load , the practice owner should meet with their financial advisor to determine how much personal income can be reduced to pay for the associate . The reduction in pay along with any consistent net profit will determine the budget and subsequentially the number of days per week for the associate .
After these initial foundational steps , the practice owner has the framework , budget , and general timeline for incorporating an associate . The rest of the journey centers around finding the right associate , preparing the team and patient base for the associate , and incorporating the associate seamlessly into the practice . Each step , when managed well , positions the practice and the associate on a path to success .
Bethany Petty is a practice management consultant that breaks the mold . In an effort to remove herself from the abrasive consultant persona , Bethany spent time receiving Masters degrees in Adult Education and in Health Communication , which enables her to present information in a way that dentists and team members understand and appreciate . Her unique approach customizes her suggestions and training to fit the personality and goals of the practice . Rather than approaching each practice with the same “ Fix-It Guide ,” she evaluates the practice , talks with team members , and listens to the dentist before making any suggestions . Bethany has a legacy of dental professionals in her family , and she has had the privilege of helping her father to build , manage , and maintain a successful family practice . With the heart to serve dentists , she has made a difference in practices all over the DFW Metroplex . For more information , visit www . hellobethany . com .
