As the calendar turns to 2021 , I must say I am not sad to see the end of 2020 . What a year it was . My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected by the health and financial crisis the virus has caused and thanks and praise to the healthcare workers who worked tirelessly to treat patients . The rollout of the vaccine offers a chance to return to the ‘ old ’ normal . Wouldn ’ t that be nice !
We are pleased to present Texas Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery , the practice of Dr . Jim Bates as our cover feature . In December of 2005 , Dr . Bates opened the first office-based surgery facility in Dallas accredited by The Joint Commission . The facility continues to achieve The Joint Commission accreditation every three years . Dr . Bates provides care for a broad spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgery services , including pathology , reconstruction and cosmetic .
