Welcome to the North Texas Dentistry
Special Issue, The Vision of Dentistry 2020!
I would like to begin by sending out a
BIG ‘virtual hug’ to the North Texas dental
community and our hearts go out to everyone
touched by illness or affected by the
shutdown. It is unbelievable how the coronavirus
has rocked the dental world. Who
could have imagined this craziness?
As dental offices closed, I knew I needed to
make some changes to my theme for the
Special Issue. The plan was to highlight all
the new and exciting trends in dentistry
now and in the future. In light of the
COVID-19 pandemic, I thought it was
appropriate to regroup and chart a new
course. Instead of the direction ‘Evolving
Towards Excellence’ I changed the focus to
‘Recovery from the Pandemic’. The issue
now includes information from leading
experts to guide dentists in making appropriate
decisions as dental offices are permitted
to reopen. Dr. Raghu Puttaiah, an
authority in infection control, presents the
latest guidelines for protecting team members
and patients as dentists begin practicing
in the age of the coronavirus.
On the brighter side, we are pleased to
present custom profiles from doctors and
industry professionals by spotlighting new
ideas and treatments they have incorporated
into their practices. These innovative
messages are full of great insight and make
for a good read.
In the current economic climate, this
Special Issue would not have been possible
without the support of my wonderful advertisers
and I am very thankful for them.
Even though we had to shift to a Plan B, I am
still very pleased with the result. I hope this
issue offers lots of timely information as you
navigate reopening in this uncertain time.
While no one would have chosen this
extremely stressful ordeal and we don’t
know when life will be back to some type of
normalcy, I hope this unexpected pause has
allowed you to stop and smell the roses for
a bit and have enjoyed the extra time with
your loved ones.
Until next time… take care and be well!
