He has authored multiple articles on the anatomy of root canal system, dental traumatology and dental and pulp regeneration in professional journals and publications and has lectured both nationally and internationally. Dr. Berto has won multiple international awards, including the Rodriguez Carvajal Award for the best clinical case published in the Spanish Association of Endodontics official journal in 2013, and in 2014 he was awarded first place in the Gutta-Core Challenge for the best clinical case. Dr. Berto is Board eligible of the American Board of Endodontics since 2009 and one of his goals is to become a Diplomate. He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, North Texas Hispanic Dental Association (President in 2013), Spanish Dental Association, DFW Metroplex Endodontic Society (President 2014), and the Irving Dental Study club (Vice-President 2012). Dr. Berto is Assistant Professor at the Department of Endodontics and teaches at the AEGD department where he is responsible for the Endodontic section. Murat Ayik,DDS Dr. Ayik received his undergraduate from Tennessee Technological University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. After graduation, he was commissioned as a Naval Officer in the United States Navy and served for four years. He earned an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) certificate at the Naval Medical/Dental Center San Diego, California. After his tenure in the US Navy, he completed a 27-month advanced specialty training in root canals and microsurgical endodontics at The Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry, where he served as chief resident in his final year of training. He currently holds board-eligibility status from the American Board of Endodontics. Dr Ayik was the president of the Dallas/ Fort Worth Endodontic Study Club for the 2010-2011 year. Dr. Ayik published a ground breaking article that has been cited numerous times in current dental literature: Woodmansey KF, Ayik M, Buschang PH, White C, He J. Maximum bite force and chewing efficiency of dental implants and endodontically treated teeth: a preliminary clinical study. J Endod. 2009; 35(1)10-4. Dr. Ayik is married to Amy and they have a son and a daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family in his free time. Antonio Berto, DDS Specialist in Endodontics Dr. Antonio Berto completed his dental training in Madrid, Spain, where he received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 2005. Previously (2003-2006) he attended Dr. Maria del Carmen Navarro (Odontopediatric dentist) and Dr. Rafael Miñana (Endodontist) in Madrid for clinical observation and assistance. After he practiced general dentistry for a year, his mentor, Dr. Rafael Miñana, one of the founders of the Spanish Association of Endodontics, realized how passionate Dr. Berto was about Endodontics, and encouraged him to continue his education in endodontics in the United States. In 2006, Dr. Berto became a Fellow in the Department of Endodontics Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry. He continued his studies at BCD and in 2009, he was awarded a Certificate in Endodontics. His research on Physical and Chemical Properties of New-Generation Endodontic Materials received a grant from the American Association of Endodontics and was presented in Orlando at the Annual meeting of the American Association of Endodontics and also at the DFW Metroplex Endodontic Society.
