Johnson sponsored a rec . basketball team in Bradenton consisting of high school athletes . He helped the team with their monthly events and guided them using his own experience . “ I try to break it down and teach youth about how it is in high school and college , and what it is like to play at the pro level ,” he said .
Johnson credits North Port High School , where he Played basketball
his junior and senior year , for allowing him to get where he is today . More specifically , he thanks fellow NPHS alumnus Kasey Wilson and his family . He also thanks the then-varsity basketball coach , Curt Allen .
“ They have had a big impact on me ,” Johnson said . “ They taught me the game of basketball , but also things about life .”
