T
he third edition of the
North Port Athletic
Rewind has arrived!
In each issue, I find
myself uncovering
more amazing things in
this town I call home. North Port is full
of several youth leagues, school sports
team and recreational activities. In each
edition, my staff and I try to cover as
many as we can.
I want to thank everyone who has
been patient during the launch of the
publication. With any new venture
comes kinks that have to be worked
out, and I value all the feedback I
received so far. In the last month, we
received additional advertisers that will
be showcased in our next issue, and
we have received our first one-year
commitment from All Gone LLC, a local
natural pest control company. We have
continued to partner with Daryl Mendez
of Thrivent Financial who has been a
supporter of the publication since our
premiere launch.
If you have any financial or pest control
needs, please contact these two
businesses that have been working
diligently to support not only the North
Port Athletic Rewind, but our local
community as well.
Recently, I attended the winter sports
banquet at NPHS and saw first hand
the successes of many of our athletes.
It brought me back to the days when
I was a student at NPHS and saw
the school pride of the students as
they cheered on their fellow Bobcats.
Despite the night highlighting several
athletic achievements, I took notes on
things that I hope to offer future award
ceremonies next school year. I have
been in contact with Tony Miller, the
incoming athletic director and plan to
work with him to bring some of the
ideas to light.
I am also working on establishing
partnerships with other local
organizations to focus on how we can
work together to unite the community
through sports and recreation. Within
the upcoming months, there are many
things my team and I have planned to
bridge the gap between local athletics
and the community.
