Archery TECH: Jesse Kuhn I was born in Great Falls, but spent my summers working the farm east of Great falls. Anything that had to do with the outdoors always captured my attention starting at a young age. I wasted no time once I was of the age to hunt and having a father that was a big hunter made getting into the passion a no brainer for me. At age nine, I started shooting a bow and quickly became a proficient shooter. My first year hunting didn’t go as planned with dad being deployed overseas my time out was limited to when someone was willing to take me, but the first deer I ever harvested and only animal I took that year was with my bow, and that lead the pace to where I am now in the bow hunting world. Eight years down the road now, with countless learning curves and several successes in the field with a bow, the knowledge I have obtained has opened many opportunities for me today. When hunting with friends or family, I’ve always put them over me when it came to harvesting game because I enjoy watching the joy it brings people when they harvest an animal. So that’s when my friends started calling me their guide; I eventually ended up landing a guiding job down along the Smith River hunting elk and mule deer. When I am not out there, I am over at the farm chasing monster mule deer in the breaks or up in the high country chasing the bugling elk until the season ends then making plans for new trips the day after the hunting season is closed. 22
