I was raised in the lettuce capital of the world , Salinas , California , with hunting and fishing running through my veins . I don ’ t remember when I started fly fishing , but there are pictures of me stripping Woolly Buggers at Idaho ’ s Henry ’ s Lake when I was four ... while wearing a Snoopy lifejacket . In California , I fished for every kind of bass , but my favorites are definitely striped and white bass . I spent summers in the Yellowstone region where I got my trout fix each year . I graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo in 2015 and moved up to Ponderay , Idaho shortly after . I serve as North 40 ’ s Fly Shop Manager in Ponderay , where I ’ m always on the lookout for more fishing and hunting partners . DYLAN McGREGOR
I was born and raised in Boise , Idaho and it wasn ’ t long before I was fly fishing . But it wasn ’ t until I was 18 that I became obsessed with the sport . Eventually , I started Spey casting and found a new addiction — steelhead . Now , even if I can only sneak away for an hour or two , you ’ re likely to find me on one of our local steelhead streams , including the Clearwater . Steelhead brought me to Lewiston , where I decided to rest my legs and hunt down anadromous fish .
MARTY SHEPPARD
Marty Sheppard grew up on the banks of Oregon ’ s Sandy River and learned how to catch steelhead , with his father , in the 1970s . In the 1990s , Sheppard took up spey casting and has never looked back . Having been a guide for more than a decade , Sheppard still demonstrates an almost missionary zeal for sharing the pure joy of rivers with others . His enthusiasm and professionalism have earned him ambassador spots with Simms Fishing , Echo Rods , Airflo Lines and Saracione Reels . He lives in Maupin , Oregon with his wife and fellow spey-rod guru , Mia , where they run Little Creek Outfittetters .
