There’s a moment during every good trip
when you may think, This is why I’m here.
And in the Northwest, on remote streams that
carve through narrow mountain canyons, that
moment often happens when you encounter a
perfect fish. These are native species, suited
to the exact environments they swim in, down
to the beautiful coloration that hides them
from predators. There are no hook-scars in the
far-reaches, and very few anglers to contend
with, which only adds to the intrigue. In this
shot, an angler admires a perfect westslope
cutthroat trout and a sweet release.
