June in Sandpoint LATEST BLOGS is a very special time for many of us. Summer is right around the corner and the weather can be hot and sunny one minute, only to be followed by days of rain. The snowpack this year in North Idaho was extremely low, leaving fishing on the Coeur d’ Alene River tough this spring. Most of the fish seem to have retreated to deeper water lower in the system. The best fishing is definitely from Teepee Creek down. Although there are a few fish up high, the flows this year are extremely low. Lake Pend Oreille is continuing to produce in both warm-water and cold-water species. The bass fishing is really picking up, and right now is about the best time of year to target smallies on the fly. The fish really focus on topwater this time of year. The Kootenai River is experiencing some high flows currently, but this river will be the go to river for the area this summer. Once the river starts dropping below 14,000 cfs this summer, fishing will really pick up. Most of the water around here is low and will be low all summer long, so please take extra care of the fish that you catch by reviving them and releasing them quickly. NEW COSTA GLASSES IN SANDPOINT!
