of the lake to follow the kings up. There are several campgrounds located along the river and most are first come first serve. Fishing can be stellar right in the campground, so be sure not to overlook the water right next to camp. Be sure to pack a variety of attractor dry flies as well as some smaller natural patterns. I really like fishing J.Slam’s, Parachute Green Drakes, Stimi Chew Toys, and other hi-viz dry flies. I mostly fish the river with a 3-weight, however a 4 or 5 weight will work just fine. The trout aren’t too picky, so I generally don’t go any smaller than 4x tippet. p.36 Later in the summer, when the water warms up, fish push into faster water and move towards the mouths of tributaries dumping in cooler water. This is when fishing can be really fun on the upper river, fish sit in fast, shallow water right up against the bank.
