The Coeur d’Alene River (CDA River) is
perhaps one of my all-time favorite
cutthroat trout streams. Hosting some
of the biggest west slope cutthroat
around, fish over 20 inches are caught
are released every year. The river can be
fished at its tiny headwaters by wading,
or floated on the lower stretches.
The River
The CDA has three forks. The North
Fork, the Little North Fork, and the South
Fork. Most of the fishing in conducted
on the North Fork, however there can be
some opportunities on the other forks.
The North Fork of the CDA starts deep in
the Coeur d’Alene Mountains and flows
into Lake Coeur d’Alene. The river fishes
well almost all year even during high
