™ EVENT Calendar Great Falls Every Saturday: Join the morning crew for a meet ‘n greet. 9am to 11ish (or when the coffee pot goes empty). Ponderay On Saturday February 21st, the Missouri River Fly Fishers (MRF) will be hosting the annual banquet at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls, MT. The Banquet is the primary fundraiser for the year. Funds raised go to projects that are vital to healthy trout habitat in the Missouri River and the tributaries that feed it. Funds are also directed toward providing anglers with public access and to providing youth with an introduction to the sport. The MRF is a non-profit organization based in Great Falls that works to further the sport of fly fishing in our community by promoting the education, trout, and conservation of the sport of fly fishing. In the past year, MRF is proud to have had a hand in recent stream restoration efforts on Little Prickly Pear Creek. LPPC is a vital spawning tributary for both rainbows and brown trout and its health is crucial to the overall productivity of the Missouri River. April 24-25: Fly Fishing Film Festival in Sandpoint, ID MRF provided funds to help Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks purchase tiny radio transmitters for a new study to track juvenile rainbows and browns. These fish were captured and tagged late last winter in the tributaries. Receiving stations are set up throughout the system from Little Prickly to the Dearborn River, to Sheep Creek and on up the Smith River.
