Winston BORON iII Plus
When we heard about the BIII Plus we were excited.
We do really well selling Winston in our shop, but
to be honest we were missing a fast action rod
with power for certain situations. The BIII X is a
great rod for many anglers and it is smooth and
enjoyable for pure casting. But for some, the BIII
X lacks the power to lift and fire longer lengths
of line quickly. We like to cast, but we like to fish
more. And some of us are not into false casting;
we like to lift and shoot.
The BIII Plus did not disappoint and is exactly
our kind of fly rod. Its very light in the hand and
It’s fast, but it doesn’t feel too fast. Winston rod
lovers will still feel very comfortable with this rod.
The tip flexes well enough, but it also recovers
instantly. You can quickly throw line with power
or relax and carry a nice loop in the air. If you’ve
got 60’ of line out and no slack, you can pick it
right up off the water with plenty of power. We
think the BIII Plus is going to be a winner.
