After the lake dropped in level, it started having problems with winter kill of the trout. Then, the local Methow Fly Fishing club along with the state fish and wildlife department stepped up and put in a aerator system to combat the winter kill problem and it has been working ever since. Even though the lake is lower the fishing is very good. Big Twin is under the select gear rules so a boat can only have an electric motor on it. The lake being small is ideal for pontoon boats as well as the float tube style boats. Another local lake to the east is Davis Lake. This lake is about 40 acres in size and holds rainbows up to 18". There is a WDFW boat access at both Big Twin and Davis Lake, but you will need a parking pass to use them Two local lakes that fly anglers like to fish were rehabbed this last fall. Located west of Omak, Green Lake was infested with under sized Bluegills and gold fish. The other lake is Rat Lake, located west of Brewster, which had unwanted bullhead catfish and crappie. Both lakes are slated for restocking, but I was unable to learn when this might happen. I do know the state fish and wildlife will be restocking rainbows in Green Lake and rainbows and brown trout in Rat Lake. Another small lake that is west of Okanogan a few miles is Buzzard Lake.
