That ’ s the philosophy of Kris and Kelly Boyd , who own and operate one of Oklahoma ’ s most successful wedding venues , Southwind Hills . Located just 10 minutes south of Norman , it ’ s a beautiful , secluded acreage featuring an elaborate , three-story barn facility that can be customized for the most elegant or the simplest of ceremonies .
Barn weddings have been trendy for several years , and Austin Jackson , owner of The Venue at Freedom Farms , also hosts weddings on his scenic working farm in northeast Norman . The farm ’ s natural beauty , along with a barn venue that also can be as elegant or as casual as a couple wants , have made it very popular , he said .

“ It ’ s very Oklahoma , very relatable to so many people ,” Kris Boyd said . Boyd , a former banker , and his realtor wife Kelly , purchased the facility in 2014 , and have been excited to see it grow .
“ We were looking for something unique and different , and something where we could be known as the best and offer a top-notch place in every area ,” he said . “ We have a top-tier staff in every area .”
Christy Creswell , manager of event sales , added that “ Every couple , every family is unique , and we try to be aware of people ’ s situations , so we can be sensitive , kind and helpful . That is our culture here . It doesn ’ t matter the size of your event , when you are here , we ’ re going to make you feel valued .”
