Bowling Leagues run all year at Sooner Bowling Center
Norman residents , youth and adults looking for a new hobby that provides physical activity , opportunities for socialization and a healthy dose of competition can sign up for a bowling league at Sooner Bowling Center .
Sooner Bowling Center features 24 United States Bowling Congress certified lanes and a considerable number of leagues with various purposes , experience levels and age groups .
Mandy Haws , owner of Sooner Bowling Center , said the business is in the middle of the fall and winter season , its busiest time for league play .
“ It ’ s all times of day Monday through Friday , right now ,” Haws said .
According to the SBC website , active leagues include a student league from Randall University , “ Ole Timers ” for bowlers age 50 and up , “ Bumper Buddies ” for ages five and older and mixed adult / youth leagues .
Most of the fall leagues start in September and end around April , but Haws said there are a few options to sign up in January for the second half of the split season .
Haws said there are even scholarship opportunities with the youth leagues .
“ We have kiddos that will go bowling in scholarship tournaments and earn money for college ,” Haws said .
With leagues running throughout the year , Haws said Sooner Bowling Center has separate league coordinators for youth and adults .
In addition to the further development of bowling skills , league play gets people with a similar interest together in a social environment . It ’ s a benefit for all age groups , but especially seniors , Haws said .
Other benefits include exercise and the sport component .
“ We ’ re definitely all in on the sport side of it , but it ’ s beneficial across the board ,” Haws said .
