Fusion de deux constructeurs automobiles japonais, Nissan naît d'abord Datsun en 1932.
Sa production s'internationalise, dès la fin des années 50, vers les Etats-Unis puis vers l'Europe, propulsant Datsun
au rang de second constructeur japonais.
En 1981, le nom de marque Nissan, jusque-là uniquement en vigueur au Japon, remplace définitivement celui de
Datsun quels que soient les marchés.
En 1999, des difficultés financières rapprochent Nissan de Renault afin que les deux marques puissent s'appuyer sur
leur savoir-faire respectif.

Datsun the second largest Japanese carmaker.
In 1981, the brand name Nissan, until then only in use in Japan, definitively replaced the Datsun name in all markets.
In 1999, financial difficulties brought Nissan and Renault closer together
so that the two brands could draw on their respective expertise.
