Jouko Pöyhönen says that a diverse
range of housing will be built in the Keimolanmäki area:
“The area is an important part of the
new Marja-Vantaa district.”
The intention is to build mainly apartment houses here, but also municipal services and business premises will be realised in
the area. The first stage of housing construction is planned to begin in 2013 and the entire area will be built by 2023.
Keilaniemi Goes Residential
Talking about the action along the new metro
line, it all starts with the actual point where
the metro surfaces from under the sea in
Keilaniemi. Alongside the formidable corporate headquarters which line up on the
shoreline, SRV wants to introduce new kind
of residential innovation: namely, the Keilaniemi Towers.
According to the plans, Keilaniemi
Towers is to feature four housing towers
which will not be dwarfed by their neighbours: with 30–40 storeys each, the buildings will reach 100 metres.
The area under development includes
almost 80,000 square metres of residential
building volume. The key idea is that the
residential development plan will go hand
in hand with the construction of the metro
line – and the first tower would be opened
around the same time as the Keilaniemi station starts operations in 2015.
“Since the traffic arrangements in the
area are very challenging, the planning must
be conducted very thoroughly,” says Pöyhönen, adding that the zoning issues of the
project will be cleared up in early 2012.
