Audio can be recorded in many ways, the ways would be one of four different types
of recording devises that filmmakers mainly us.
These are the radio lavalier microphone which is used for long distance audio, the best out of all the microphones out there today. The In-camera microphone which is used for very close up shots withminimum background
noise, this devise is not used very often.
The shotgun or directional mincrophone is used for filming events that dont require people to wear a wired or radio microphone. Finally the wired lavalier microphone is great for mid shots and it can either be held under the mouth so you can be heard with a clear voice wherever you are or be held above everyone so they will be heard clearly.
Some examples of the wired lavalier in use would be in a studio interview becasue its not so far away to use the radio lavalier but its not close enough to use the in-camera mic. Also its great for voice overs becasue you would need a camera and its easy to hook up to a system for the best quailty.
Some examples of the shotgun being used would be for music because if not, all the people in the band would have to wears mic and all the instruments will have to be connecting which just wastes time. And ambient sound becasue its the only microphone that would be able to capture everything going on EG; traffic.
The examples of a radio mincrophone to be used would be for drama dialogue for a feature film becasue they will be able to film at a long distance. another one would be sound effects because you would be able to some sounds from outside or in the studio and it would be clear.
