Editor’s Letter C hange is the only thing that doesn’t change.” “ And still that’s exactly the constant challenge we are facing. I’ve come to realise that I embrace change so much more than ever before in my life. and I feel great about that! I’m not scared of it. Right away I can see the benefits of it and if I don’t, then I know I just need to be a little patient because I will definitely learn about the benefits soon. That’s what life taught me. I strongly believe that me living in London for almost six years now has made me feel that comfortable with change. Because London is a place of rapid change all the time. Madonna sang in one of her songs “New York is not for little pussies who scream”. And neither is London. Being involved or affected by a terror attack became a clear reality this year, and you can accept living with that danger or you leave the city and live somewhere else and more safe. We had several attacks and other weird incidents this year and they made us feel sad, angry, vulnerable and confused. But do we really want to think about it all the time on the tube, at Borough Market or Westminster Bridge etc.? No, we don’t. Life is not designed to be scared, it’s made to live to its fullest, with purpose and in happiness. Sounds cheesy? Well sorry, but that’s the core message of life and you should know that. In times of fake news and growing mistrust in media, jour- nalism in general, I really want to keep an authentic voice in my texts. As mentioned in my previous issue I’m not perfect, not at all. Though I really love to share what I think, what I see, what I realise and what I’m experiencing. Let’s say this is a very London zeitgeist magazine you can read to find out about my life in London and about the people I meet here. Isn’t it great that modern technology makes it so easy for us to share our lives, our views, struggles, our fun and thoughts with each other? I’ve named this magazine NODNOL (London backwards) because it’s this city - how challenging and energy draining it can be - that’s still so fascinating! I’ve always been fascinated by big cities and their dynamics. London is a special place here in Europe even though the Brexit. It’s a hub of cultures, people from all over the world who have and still are open- ing up their eyes and I’m in the middle of all that. I’m never sure if I really want to live here forever because of the price I sometimes have to pay. I’m writing about the health challeng- es, the younger generation and living a busy life challenge for example and how I try to deal with it. Again I’m no expert but I will never stop trying to be my best and keep having a positive life attitude at all times. There are so many interesting things and people out here in London. It could easily consume a whole life to discover, por- trait and write about them. NODNOL issue #2 is a little part of it, presented through my eyes and I hope you enjoy read- ing it. Let me know what you think (email to mariejanine@ icloud.com) or join me in writing! I’m looking for contribut- ing writers, editors, photographers, artist and, and, and who would love to work with me on the next issue. Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you. - Marie Janine Murmann ! u o y k n a h T Autumn 2017 NODNOL Issue #2 Editor-In-Chief & Contributing Editor: Marie Janine Murmann Cover Page: Shard Photographs: Majority of photographs taken by Marie Janine Murmann with iPhone 6 and 7, all rights reserved by Marie Janine Murmann, photographs not taken by M.J.
