When faced with the absurd,
And what one may mean with the word:
The search for purpose by many
Reflecting their inability to find any
And filling their bleak lives with colourful things
The love for each other and the exchange of rings
But still a gaping hole solved not by a wife
Is whether there is any meaning to life?
Some turn and try and transcend
Believing in things they can’t comprehend
And join some sort of massive cult
Giving their intellects an insult
And with their strange restrictions and rules
They incorporate them in our schools
Of these I’d rather not abide
By committing intellectual suicide
Some can’t take facing the absurd
And make pondering their final word
While a heartbreaking tragedy
It makes me wonder how it could be
That death solves the problem life cannot
The answer made only by a crackpot
Of which we end up accusing
How can life be worth losing?
But when not cured by the other two
What then can stop my feeling blue?
Acceptance that life has absurdity
And refuse to let it consume me
So while in the depths of winter I stroll
At the deepest parts of the human soul
But when philosophy is a bummer
I know, within me in an invincible summer1
