WHAT DO YOU WANT TO PASS DOWN TO Y & L?

G - Ummm, I don't know nothing

What do you want us to believe about the world?

G - The world is good. I prefer England to Barbados, because I can see it better, I can go and shop, I can go out at night. I'm not scared (in England).

L & Y - You're a wild one, aren't you?

G - (Raised voice) Used to be! (Y&L laugh) Used to be!

L - It's all coming out now

G - All parties and drink

Y - Oh here we go

G- Alcohol (although it is a long lost past time)

L - You still like a good coke and vodka now

Y - You wouldn’t say no

G - I'd still have a little bit, not much

L - Just a little yeah, just a nice pint

of vodka and coke

G - Yeah, or brandy, you know.

Gogo claims she has nothing to pass down to me and my sister. I disagree with many of her views, I think she is stuck in her ways. Gogo is untrusting of the world. Yet, she is an enormously loving person, generous and funny. She's so full of life and vibrancy despite everything that has happened in her life and that honestly will not fail to astound me. Gogo says that she only eat vegetables on weekends to save money so she has something to pass down to us but she what she doesn't understand is that we are so lucky to her in our lives and that she has and continues to give me and Lois so many wonderful memories. Gogo never got to live her dreams or even have the opportunity to try. It is definitely a factor when I think about my future. Through the hard work of my immediate family I am able to have choices, a luxury Gogo never knew.

Gogo lives with us in England for half the year, this year she stayed for 8 months, and I am so grateful I know my grandmother on such an everyday level. Honestly, everything I say about Gogo sounds cheesy but it's true, she is one of my favourite

people on the planet and I think it about time someone sang her praises!

More than anything I want to pass down empathy and self love to the next generation - for your fellow human and your environment. As people I think we distance ourselves from each other, but we’re all connected. And self love is so important. This cannot be overstated.
