Armenian Genocide memorial complex is Armenia’s oicial memorial
dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, built in 1967 on the hill
of Tsitsernakaberd in Yerevan. Yerevan Brandy Company, commonly known with its famous brand
“ArArAt”, is the leading enterprise of Armenia for the production of
cognac. It was founded in 1887, during the period of the Russian Empire.
In 1999, the government of independent Armenia sold the factory to the
French Pernod Ricard company for distilled beverages. Kond is one of the oldest quarters of Yerevan. It is situated within the
boundaries of the modern-day Kentron District of the capital of Armenia.
Its western border has historically been the Hrazdan River, and its northern
border, the Kozern Cemetery.
Every year on April 24—the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day—
thousands of Armenians gather at the memorial to commemorate the
victims of the genocide. The people who gather in Tsiternakaberd lay fresh
lowers out of respect for all the people who died in the Armenian genocide.
Over the years, a wide range of politicians, artists, musician, athletes, and
religious igures have visited the memorial.
ArArAt Museum is the unique place representing the history of Armenian
Brandy. The museum ofers tours that cover all the milestones of the
ArArAt history and proposes a degustation of variety of cognac to it
visitors.
Kond was one of Yerevan’s three original quarters since the 17th century:
Shahar (The Old City), Demir-Bulagh (Karahank), and Kond (Tapabash).
Kond, similar to Shahar, was also populated by indigenous Armenians and
during Persian rule; they became the majority ethnic group living in the
