The ghost of Whaley and his wife announce themselves by the sudden aroma of cigars and perfume to haunt the house. They were brutally mistreated and tortured to the point that they were often sprayed with cold water and sent outside in the middle of the winter. Eastern state was the first prison of its kind- prisoners held in solitary confinement with their yards, so there was no contact with any other inmate whatsoever. The treatment got so bad that it drove inmates into absurd insanity and was scrapped in 1913. Reports on this leyline disorder have increased, and various investigations resulted in some extreme evidence being captured. Experiences such as shadow figures, evil laughing, ghostly faces, voices, footsteps, and banging have been witnessed regularly.
