When it came to deciding what brand I wanted to do for my project I thought about going for a typical woman's brand as I would be able to relate to the clothing as I buy more from female orientated brands but I thought that I would take a different approach and test myself by dong a men's brand which I am quite proud of for doing as I normally take the easy route. I thought that I came up with some different ideas, for instance, handing out freebees is a well known way of marketing and you see it all the time but picking a place like the Royal Ascot is a less obvious choice due to it being such a formal event; but i thought that Paul Smith as a brand fits perfectly with the whole criteria of what you need to wear to go to an event like that.

I feel as if I planned and all of my days so precisely and organized what I was going to do when and in my head it made sense but when it actually came to creating stuff I felt like I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing and so I ended up making things as I went along. My tote bags, for example, were an idea I had from quite early on and I just left them because I thought I had everything ready but when it came to spray painting them the cans didn’t work and I didn't know how to keep it from getting everywhere so a few of them have gone through to the inside as well as smudging as well as not having the right paint and not even know what exactly I wanted to put on them whether if was just a picture or a slogan or to even make a logo. Things like this happened a few times and I know that I could have sorted them out if I had given myself more time but because I tried to put so much in and a few things went wrong, a lot of my visual merchandising ideas did not work out and so I never used them.

After completing the project I feel as if my thoughts of what I would like to do in the future has changed as I had my mind set on going and doing some sort of visual merchandising because initially that was what I thought I was best at, but now I feel as if marketing is more suited to me and after doing so much research on other peoples campaigns I would really like to give digital marketing a shot. Digital marketing in particular is what i would like to try because I would like to get more confidence in using programmes like Photoshop as I felt I couldn't include anything of that sort in my marketing campaigns for my project as I just do not know how to use it properly.

I could have improved the execution of my project but I am glad i decided to present my final work on Joomag, which I didn’t decide to do until a week before handing this project in, as I was going to just present in on a powerpoint however it looks much more professional and I like the way it has all come out. Overall, there are a lot of things I could have improved and I am a bit disappointed that it took me so long to realise Visual Merchandising is not for me but I am glad that i now know where to go from here and how much better I know i will be able to complete my next project.
