FROM THE EDITOR... 2016! Dave Stabley Editor / Publisher A New Year. We will learn from the past, make the necessary adjustments, and move forward with added enthusiasm and determination, to provide a better magazine! O ur 2015 publishing year is now behind us, and what a year it was! What started out to be just a reference guide for photographers, models, MUAs and designers, quickly turned into a full-fledged, 150-page, monthly photography magazine, with roughly 2,500 reads per month. Even previous issues continue to be read long after their release, with an overall average of around 4,000 reads per issue. I learned some invaluable (and relatively expensive) lessons along the way...such as, just because people ask you to order a hard copy of the magazine for them at the “publisher’s discounted rate” doesn’t mean they actually intend to pick it up and pay for it. If anyone would like a pristine copy of the Premiere Issue, I just happen to have a dozen or so copies that I paid $25 each for. Make me an offer! I found that some of the ideas I may have thought would be very popular, had very low readership rates, and others I was skeptical about were incredibly well received. Themes seemed to be very popular, so based on that observation, in 2016 I am going to attempt to come up with a basic theme for each month’s issue. That doesn’t mean that the themed images are the only ones that will appear, but it will be good to have a starting point. I will try to post a list of upcoming themes on the nmcliq.com website by the time this issue hits the street. If any of the readers have suggestions for future issues, please let me know. In case you are one of the readers who may think the hard copy of the magazine is so expensive because I over-price it to make a huge profit, nothing could be further from reality. It costs that much because it is nearly 150 pages of high-quality, full color images, digitally printed and bound in the Netherlands (which should explain the high cost of shipping). I have searched for a local printer that has the ability and is willing to produce it locally, and came up with even higher prices than what we are paying now. I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to all the photographers who submitted their incredible work to the magazine and entrusted me to present it in a professional manner. Thanks too, to the models who invested their time and often their own money for outfits, props, hair and makeup for these photo sessions. Often times that hair and makeup, even some of the outfits were donated by some talented artists, and for their generosity, I am also thankful. There are also a couple of wonderful writers who have been willing to allow me to publish their insights and training pieces that also deserve my thanks. Lastly, and probably most importantly, I would like to thank all of you, our readers. Without your continued support, and willingness to share and promote this upstart enterprise, I can assure you, it would have died off quickly. Until next month, Dave Stabley Editor/Publisher NM CliQ Magazine www.nmcliq.com 6 NM CliQ Magazine | January 2016
