FROM THE EDITOR...
DID I MENTION I “HATE” CLOWNS?

hen the “Dark Clown” shoot was first announced, and accompanied by a photo of a trio of really “nastylooking” dark clowns, I knew, without a doubt, there was no way I was going to be a participant in that
freak show!! As the shoot date neared, I began to waiver, thinking I probably should at least make an attempt.
Fortunately for me, fate stepped in and provided Kathy and me with serious colds just at the time of the event,
and there was no way I was going to pass my germs along to a bunch of unsuspecting models. (That’s my
excuse and I’m sticking to it!!)
The submission response to this issue has completely blown me away! In case you haven’t noticed, this is
the largest issue I have ever published! Even with all the extraneous pages removed, it is nearly 150 pages,
and could have been so much bigger. I have so many incredible images that could have gone into this issue,
but common sense dictates that it be kept to a reasonable number of pages. Admittedly, I could have had far
less pages if I had decided to publish fewer full-page images, and put more photos on a single page, but that
isn’t the way I thought they should be displayed. I think it is clearly obvious, I will be doing “Special Dark
Editions” again in the future.
COMPOSITIONAL NOTE: Just a quick word of advice to the photographers out there, subject placement in a
photograph can be the sole determining factor in getting a double-page spread, or a quarter page spread. If
you are shooting in landscape mode, and place your subject directly in the middle of the frame, it cannot ever
be used in a double page spread without the subject falling in the page crack. However, if you remember the
“rule of thirds” when shooting or editing, this will never be a problem for you.
Effective immediately, all submission deadlines will fall on Saturdays. Deadlines for submissions and
Personal Pages will be the same day. The deadline for January Issue submissions will be December 19th.
I want to thank all of you for helping to make this first year of NM CliQ Magazine an unqualified success. It
is my sincerest hope that the coming year of 2016, will be even better: more and better articles, additional
submissions from yet unknown local photographers and models, and continued collaborations producing
better photographic art than ever before. Thank you for your patience as this magazine grows from its
infancy, for your continued support and readership, and for sharing it with friends and colleagues to help us
build a wider fan base. You guys ROCK!
Thanks! Until next year,
