Foreword
In ancient time, the Roman Empire connected people
from north-western Europe to the Near East and all the
people of the Mediterranean. In a similar manner, the NJCL
now connects people from all over the country and even
other parts of the world. We always like to imagine that
through the NJCL, we continue the culture and traditions
of Rome and at least in this aspect of Rome, we have truly
succeeded.
In this scrapbook, you will find pictures of the past
national convention as well as pictures of JCL events from
various states. It is my hope that these photos will show-
case all the unique JCL events that happen around the
country, but also remind you of how much different JCLers
have in common.
When I first joined JCL as a wide-eyed freshman, I
couldn’t have imagined that I would have learned and
gained so much from my time in the club. However, the
most important thing I’ve gained from the JCL is friendship.
I now have friends from all over the country who I nev-
er would’ve met before, people who have given me new
perspectives in life and different ways of thinking. As the
old saying goes: “Mille viae ducunt homines per saecula
Romam (A thousand roads lead men forever to Rome)”. I
believe that one of the JCL’s greatest strength is its ability
to lead people together and I hope that it will never stop
doing so.
It has been an honor serving as your NJCL Historian. I
couldn’t have asked for a better way to end my JCL career
than by giving back to the organization that has given me
so much.
