Fair Lawn Council shows support for police
During a January meeting, the Fair Lawn Borough Council
issued a resolution of appreciation and support for the members of Fair Lawn Local 67 and all law enforcement officers in
the Borough.
The resolution cited the line-of-duty deaths of NYPD officers Liu and Ramos, as well as the killings of three police officers in Paris, who died protecting citizens during a January
terrorist assault tied to the Charlie Hebdo magazine.
“These recent incidents highlight the dangers that are faced
by all law enforcement professionals during the course of their
regular duties each and every day,” the resolution states, while
describing Fair Lawn’s police and auxiliary police officers as
essential function of the community. “In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a
need to show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometime impossible job they do.”
The sentiment was not lost on Local 67 President David
Boone and State Delegate Edward Egan who were especially
proud of the resolution because a previous council laid off
four officers in 2010.
“This resolution shows that our relationship between the
governing body and their police can and should always be
strong,” Boone said. “The community benefits greatly from
this mutual trust and support.”
