During the past several years we have done so much to enhance the plan, but in doing so, I have failed to remind you all of the way it operates, except at the monthly State Delegates meetings. Unfortunately, in order to efficiently process claims, there are certain aspects we have to be strict KEVIN C. about, so deficiencies in claims will be turned around, and we will not cover the members until all LYONS information is properly submitted. Please follow these easy steps to ensure your coverage and defense: Enrollment All NJ State PBA members in good standing are permitted to enroll in the LPP as a member benefit. In order to be enrolled, you must be registered by your State Delegate through the internal computer system. Your Local will receive a bill which is due in 30 days. All members of a Local have an enrollment period of the first of the month of a certain month. This is the period that the levels of coverage in terms of dollars exist. NOTE: The State Delegate is responsible for all enrollment issues for the Local. Please don’t think that members can be retroactively enrolled in the plan. Opening a claim As soon as you realize that you may be eligible for coverage under the plan, please consult with your State Delegate. If it is determined that you are eligible for coverage, your State Delegate will present you with a fully filled out and executed claim form. This form must contain times and dates. If your delegate presents you with a form that says “Target of Investigation” we will not confirm coverage. Also, if you are handed a form that is just signed, please do not accept it. Recently, there have been several forms that have been submitted that were obviously filled out by the member or the attorney. These are also invalid. These shortcuts are causing a great deal of administrative work in the office, and we are risk
