Atlantic City Local 24 surprised with pizza party
When Atlantic City Local 24 members were radioed to the
Public Safety Building to report for lunch and were met with a
dozen free pizzas, they were shocked.
“We never expected anything like that to come in,” stated Atlantic City Local 24 President T.J. Moynihan. “It really gave us a
good feeling and we were all very appreciative.”
Local 24 members continue to serve the community as the
city slides further into a financial crisis. Law enforcement officers and city employees are being paid once per month as the
city teeters closer and closer to running out of money and legislators and city officials work to find a solution.
On May 3, the Jersey City Police Officers Benevolence Association called up South End Pizza to place an order for a dozen
pizzas in a show of support for their law enforcement friends in
Atlantic City.
“Everyone was extremely grateful and thankful to them,” noted Moynihan. “Obviously Jersey City is two hours away, so we
never expected anything from those so far away. It was a great
surprise.”
Boxes of pizza were stacked on a table and members who
lately find themselves in a stressful situation were able to smile
and enjoy lunch.
“It was really important because it just reminds us that we’re
all in this together and we all have to look out for each other,” recognized Moynihan. “That’s what the thin blue line is all
about.”
Local 24 members have remained steadfast that they will
continue working because of the oath they all have taken. d
