NJ law enforcement forum
to fight heroin epidemic
On Jan. 6 law enforcement officers will gather for the 2017
RED Forum at Rider University’s Bart Luedeke Center to learn
how they can become leaders to put an end to the heroin/opioid epidemic in New Jersey communities.
City of Angels NJ (COA) will host this forum to show how
medical, educational and law enforcement agencies can work
together to bring necessary change to substance abuse recovery. Phil Valentine, executive director for the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR), will lead an engaging
discussion about how agencies can work with cities to combat
addiction through programs that partner with recovery coach es to guide substance-users away from drugs. These programs
are designed to promote law enforcement involvement with the
recovery process in order to save lives and keep heroin/opioid
abuse off of the streets.
The forum agenda runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes
four panel discussions, lunch and a film showing of the FBI
documentary, Chasing the Dragon. City of Angels NJ, Inc. is a
non-profit organization that promotes substance abuse recovery by providing support and guidance for addicts to become
integrated back into the community. COA believes that with the
help of police, their programs can become even more successful in decreasing the effects of substance abuse in our communities.
