CONGRATS ON YOUR PROMOTION Linden promotes trio of sergeants This month, Linden Police Department promoted three Linden Local 42 members to the rank of sergeant. Kenneth Mikolajczyk, Martin Zedrzejewski and Joseph Rivera were appointed for this high ranking for their wellserved dedication to the Linden Police Department. The Linden Police Superior Association, as well as the rest of the department, agreed that these men have made large contributions to the town’s security. “The vision the Mayor, City Council and I have of improving the safety of the citizens of Linden is closer to being realized, as today we promote three highly decorated police officers to the rank of sergeant,” stated Chief Jonathan Parham. The three promoted officers bring a diverse background in law enforcement experience to the role of sergeant. Kenneth Mikolajczyk joined the Narcotics Bureau in 1999 after six years of patrol experience with Linden PD. He later was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Bureau after participating in more than 1,000 investigations. Mikolajczyk is the 2016 Officer of the Year, and his accolades will only multiply as a new standing sergeant of Linden Police Department. Martin Jedrzejewski worked for 10 years with the Linden Police Department before he, too, was assigned to the Narcotics Bureau in 2015. Jedrzejewski spent his first year with this distinction in a six-month investigation that shut down heroin mills in his own community and the town of Carteret, and confiscated $1 million worth of packaged heroin and $240,000 in cash. Joseph Rivera joined the Linden Police Department in 2009. In March, Rivera became a field training officer, taking on the role of mentor and trainer for new officers who had graduated from the Police Academy. His leading involvement in sharing his professional skills and experience with the Linden police officers of the academy has brought upon the distinct recognition of being promoted to the role of sergeant, alongside two of his department peers. d www.njcopsmagazine.com ■ DECEMBER 2016 87
