Holiday greetings to
retired members
From your State Delegate
Dec. 13 capped off a
memorable year for Local
600 with more than 350 of
our members attending our
annual Christmas party at
St James Church in Woodbridge.
The event provided a
JIM
great opportunity to get regTOMA
istration for 2017 going. And
allow me to offer a note of
thanks to Charlie Ciani from PC Richard for
donating the two televisions that highlighted our raffle. All who attended were able to
discuss changes in healthcare benefits with
representatives from Aetna and Horizon at
information tables both carriers set up for
advice and counseling.
I believe a good time was had by all, and
we had the chance to reminisce with other members and former coworkers, some
who we haven’t seen in years. Thanks to the
many volunteers who went above beyond
the call of duty because of the overwhelming and unexpected number of attendees.
Thanks to all of you for your patience with
the long lines and for handling it with your
usual patience and good humor – most of
the time.
As always, there are too many people to
thank for setting up, handling sales, distributing PBA cards, conducting the raffle,
the 50/50, serving food and then breaking everything down and cleaning up. Not
only were the executive board members
there from early until late, but several other
members were more than willing to assist
when asked.
Here’s an update on the Local 600 dental
plan situation: We are still in the process of
being “evaluated” by another potential administrator to take over from the previous
provider. As I have stated, I’m hoping to
have an answer in the next couple of weeks
and then will announce to all whichever
way it goes.
Please take some time this holiday season
to be thankful for all the blessings you have
with family and friends. As much as we have
been attacked during this past year for who
we are and what we do, always be proud of
our profession and the job you do to protect
the citizens of this state. Keep together and
continue to fight for our rights that we have
earned through our years of service, Merry Christmas to all our members and your
families, and thanks for supporting Local
600 and me as your State Delegate. d
From your treasurer
I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas
and a Happy and Healthy
New Year. During this holiday season, please remember our membership is now
more than 4,000 members,
TOM
so please be patient in
awaiting your cards being
MILMOE
sent to you as it will take a
few weeks to get all the mailings out.
