strong opposition to the nomination
of Debo Adegbile to be the next Assistant Attorney General for the Civil
Representing
America’s Finest
Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. This nomination is a
slap in the face of American law enforcement, to put it mildly. We
understand that past leaders of the Civil Rights Division have made
(or tried to make) a name for themselves by investigating and prosecuting police officers. We don’t like it, but we get it. But this nomination goes so much farther. Here we have a nominee who’s made
his name defending one of the most notorious and unrepentant cop
killers around, Wesley Cook, aka “Mumia Abu-Jamal” the convicted
murderer of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.
I would respectfully urge every member group to please write the
two senior senators in charge of the Senate Judiciary Committee,
Senator Patrick Leahy of Verm
