A message from the New Jersey Honor Legion
MICHAEL MANZO PRESIDENT NJ HONOR LEGION
The New Jersey Honor Legion was founded in December 1966 under the premise of recognizing the“ Finest of the Finest” officers for their many acts of heroism and valor. It was formed by law enforcement officers to bring attention to the exceptional, yet far too often overlooked, work of other officers. In our 50-plus years of existence, more than 6,000 law enforcement officers, representing agencies throughout the state of New Jersey, have been accepted into our association.
Our history is rich, but the time has come to set our eyes on the future as we seek to reassert our presence among the prominent fraternal associations of our state. A major part of that process involves empowering the next generation of officers, as we respect those who did the job before us. While our mission remains the same, it is the next generation that possesses the inspiration to achieve it, and they are rising to the challenge.
Undoubtedly, it is an exciting time to be a member of the NJ Honor Legion. As we work to restore confidence in our reputation, we have partnered with many associations to strengthen existing bonds and rebuild those that may have weakened over
time. Among the many recently renewed alliances, there is none more important to us than that with the NJ State PBA.
On behalf of the Honor Legion Executive Board, I sincerely thank President Patrick Colligan and Executive Vice-President Marc Kovar for the opportunity to revitalize this relationship, including the opportunity to directly address your membership at the upcoming Mini-Convention.
We believe the New Jersey Honor Legion represents the very best of our profession. Only officers who have risked their lives to save a life or have faced the imminent danger of an armed adversary qualify for membership into our organization. There are countless officers who perform above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. I am asking the many officers NJ State PBA represents to consider applying to become a part of the most prestigious fraternal law enforcement association in the state. d
