years focused on fire investigations, Macones’ work
benefits from experience gleaned as an assistant chief
with the West Paterson Volunteer Fire Department,
which he joined in 1993. Seven years later, he joined
the Woodland Park Police Department before moving
to the Prosecutor’s Office, where he has served as State
Delegate for four years.
Most recently, Macones was sworn in as one of the
newest additions to the NJ State PBA Executive Board.
Macones’ start in law enforcement was inspired by
a desire to make even more of a difference in his community.
“I just like helping people,” he admitted, and plans
to continue employing that motivation as a member
of the State Executive Board. “I want to help and support (the Executive Board) in any way I can. I’m grateful to be appointed and look forward to working with
(State PBA President) Pat (Colligan) and (Executive
Vice-President) Marc (Kovar). They’re people I can
always look up to.”
Macones recognizes the varied specialties the NJ
State PBA represents. “For example, corrections has
special issues, and so do we (at the Prosecutor’s
Office),” he emphasized. Macones also brings a
unique perspective recognizing the intersection of
firefighting and law enforcement, particularly from
the prosecutorial angle.
“We do a different kind of work, and I look forward
to representing other prosecutors, detectives and
Locals,” Macones stated.
