PBA delivers more toys to Jersey’s tots

In addition to the usual rundowns and
debriefing of union business and law
enforcement news, May’s NJ State PBA
Board of Delegates meeting included an element of compassion for New Jersey’s most
vulnerable population: children in foster
care.
After a wildly successful holiday toy drive
in December, 2015 – its 12th season running
– the PBA sponsored a summer toy drive for
children supported through the tireless
efforts of Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS).
The 2015 holiday haul filled the hands
and hearts of New Jersey’s many foster children with plush and poseable plunder from
Star Wars, Minions and Disney’s Frozen; the
2016 spring trove has proven equally
impressive.
“On behalf of all of our staff and volunteers, I want to thank you for the gifts you
brought today and for the commitment to
brightening the lives of New Jersey’s foster
children,” said FAFS Digital Media Manager
Lloyd Nelson, who attended the May meeting.
Extending a special thank you to
Bernards Township Local 357 State Delegate
Hank Werner and PBA President Patrick
Colligan, who took initiative spearheading
the event, Nelson added, “We believe the
children of foster care are the community’s
children with the same hopes and dreams
of all children. And once again, you have
helped make their hopes and dreams come
true.” d
