Burlington County Corrections
Local 249 plays ball
Burlington County Corrections Local 249 partnered with the Carie
Cares Foundation to spend the day playing a game of basketball
against the children of the Legacy Treatment Services Foundation.
The Foundation is a nonprofit human service agency dedicated to
improving the lives of children, adults and families struggling with
behavioral health and developmental challenges, which formed after
a two agencies – The Children’s Home in Lumberton and the Drenk
Center – merged, both of which had a strong community presence
and a combined 210 years of expertise.
The partnership between Local 249, Carie Cares Foundation and
the Legacy Treatment Services Foundation was the first interaction;
the children were ecstatic to compete against the Local 249 members.
Unfortunately their effort, however valiant, came up short. Both Local
249 and the children look forward to a rematch next year. d
