Superior Court slams governor’s
As most already know by now, Mercer County Superior
Court Assignment Judge Mary Jacobson issued a decision
and order on Feb. 23, in which she found that Gov. Christie
violated Chapter 78 by not making the full contribution to
the pension funds as required by Chapter 78. The court
granted the motions filed by the NJ State PBA and other
public employee unions in their entirety and ordered the
governor and the State Legislature to determine how best
to make up the shortfall of almost $1.6 billion in fiscal year
2015 (FY15).
The Background
The court’s decision arises out of the lawsuit filed by the State PBA and
other public employee unions seeking to compel the state to make the
full FY14 and FY15 contributions to the pension funds in accordance
