WHO ARE THOSE GUYS?
A significant amount of members are asking this very question about
new NJ State PBA President Patrick Colligan and new Executive Vice-President Marc Kovar.
It’s a good question, so we set out to provide an answer.
After researching and interviewing, we determined that Colligan and
Kovar – Pat and Marc – have the makings to become one of the most
dynamic duos law enforcement has ever seen. Defining this partnership,
however, led us to checking sources far and wide to find a worthy comparison.
Forget the Batman & Robin thing as well as cop references to Starsky &
Hutch, Friday and Gannon and Malloy and Reed. Cagney and Lacey might
have come close except for obvious reasons, but the most apropos we came
up with in this realm is Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Think about it?
So we tried other references. Felix and Oscar don’t apply nor do Wayne
& Garth. Maris and Mantle could have worked, and in another era, perhaps
Orville and Wilbur, the Wright Brothers.
Then it hit: Pat, with his creative vision and penchant for the one-liner,
and Marc, with his relentlessness and quiet demeanor, give us a PBA version of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. If you remember the movie,
you remember the line we kept hearing over and over:
