Scholarly
Endeavors
At the June 14 meeting at Saint James Church in Woodbridge, the Local 600 Scholarship Committee, headed by 2nd Vice-President Lou Tuccillo, awarded scholarships to members with children and grandchildren headed to college.
“We do it to give back,” explained Local 600 President Tom Lombardi. “Our membership has been loyal since we started and this is for their children and grandchildren.”
Local 600 awarded a total of $5,000 in scholarships to 10 worthy college-bound
young men and women.
“Let’s be honest – if you’re going to Princeton, $500 won’t help very much,” Lombardi mused. “But most of these winners are going to colleges where this can help
toward books. It works out well and they’re very appreciative of it.”
Scholarship winners are: Frank John III, Ryan Hoffman, Abigail Stocco, Emma
Sumner, John Sheedy Jr., Brian Senkus, Christopher Wilczynski, Jazlyn Cruz and
Douglas Williams Jr.d
