New ‘Line of Duty’ Memorial
in Atlantic City

Police officers and firefighters from around the Tri-State
area made their way to the
Boardwalk in Atlantic City this
month for the unveiling of the
Law Enforcement & Firefighters Memorial.
Richard and Cathy Burke,
owners of the Irish Pub in
Atlantic City, hosted a dedication ceremony for the highlyanticipated Law Enforcement
& Firefighters Memorial, “In
the Line of Duty.” The memorial was unveiled on Atlantic City’s Boardwalk at St. James Place.
The Irish Pub has long been a supporter of public safety and
has a long history of giving back to police and children’s charities with the Irish Pub Tour de Shore now almost 30-years-old.
The Burkes said they took on this project to acknowledge and
thank the city that has been so good to them.
NJ State PBA Executive Vice-President Marc Kovar was in attendance, along with Atlantic City Local 24 State Delegate Keith Bennett and other officers from the Atlantic City Local Police
Department.
The memorial unveiling began with a service at St. Nicholas of
Tolentine Church. A police procession led by a series of honor
guards went from the church onto St. James Place and finally to
the foot of the memorial as it was unveiled.
Cathy Burke commissioned Toms River artist Brian Hanlon to
create the memorial. Burke said she wanted to create a memo-
