On Nov. 29, members of Wall Township Local 234 joined with
members of Toms River Local 137 and went help a Toms River
family in need.
Approximately 50 mixed members from each Local spent the
morning cleaning up the exterior of the Zane family home. This
included trimming all landscaping, removing the leaves, cutting the grass, cleaning the gutters and laying down mulch in
the landscape beds. Following the cleanup, members brought
Christmas decorations and placed lights, wreaths, garland and
bows on the front of the house. As neighbors of the Zane family started to emerge from their homes to see what was happening, members continued by cleaning the exteriors of their
homes as well. This included elderly residents who were unable
to remove the leaves by themselves.
When all was said and done, the entire cul-de-sac was
cleaned of leaves and grass was cut.
Matt and Jill Zane are two loved and selfless educators in the
Wall Township school district. After battling fertility issues for
.
several years, Jill became pregnant with twins through IVF Eight
weeks into the pregnancy, one of the eggs split, giving Matt and
Jill triplets in August 2010.
One of their three children, Caden, is a medically-complex,
chronically-ill disabled little boy. Every day is a serious struggle for Caden, vomiting constantly and often crying through
sleepless nights. These are just a few of the many difficulties
Caden endures. With very little understanding of Caden's con-
dition, the Zane family has struggled to get him the help he
needs.
Most recently, Jill has been diagnosed with stage IV breast
cancer that has metastasized to her bones and two organs. d
