Linden welcomes first
female motor officer
The Linden Police Department Local 42 welcomed its first female
motor officer, Monika Oliveira, a seven-year veteran of the department who recently completed and graduated from the Northwestern Motor Officer training program hosted by the department.
“This was the most difficult training I have ever been a part of,
and I would never have made it through such a difficult program
without experienced and knowledgeable instructors,” said Oliveira.
“I am proud to join the police motor unit and will work hard to further my skills as my street experience grows.”
The department was proud to have one of its own complete the
course.
“Monika worked hard every day to earn a tremendous reputation
from her instructors,” said Linden Police Department Lieutenant
and Motor Unit Commander Michael Babulski.
Added Police Chief James Schulhafer: “Our female officers continue to break down barriers and show their worth and expertise in
areas that have traditionally been reserved for men.” d
