car, shot three times and lives to share the
gripping details of the incident.
“Officer Hartnett’s story is one of per-

Andreyev stated. “It doesn’t matter what
department you’re with — that could
happen to any one of our members here
in New Jersey.”
Attendees also had the rare opportuni-
ty to listen to the poignant and emotional
testimony given by Yasenia Yatomi about
her response to the 2017 Las Vegas shoot-

it was like to be on the front lines of the
deadliest mass shooting in American his-

State Delegates, Local presidents and
PBA members across the state looked
forward to the 2018 annual convention in
Boca Raton for months. Starting on Sept.

packed agenda of motivational storytell-
ing, informative presentations and valu-
able opportunities to network.
The NJ State PBA Convention Com-
mittee worked diligently for months to
schedule unforgettable speakers.
“We work to bring an experience to the
convention that allows every attendee to
walk away with a little something to think
about,” shared Committee Chairman
Pete Andreyev. “The goal is to provide
discussion points that members can talk
about while they’re hanging out through-
out the convention.”
Andreyev is confident that members
will have plenty to discuss after listen-
ing to the unbelievable story of Phila-

Lavin, founder of the Where Angels Play

NJ State PBA resources, including the
Peer Liaison Committee, the Education
Committee, Legal Updates and more also
presented plenty of valuable information
for attendees to bring back to their Locals.
“We try to give current information
regarding the various topics of concern
among PBA Locals and membership,”
Andreyev confirmed. “Members can take
the information back to the Locals and
say, ‘The NJ State PBA is working on var-
