Officer Herod is a team player who shows no hesita- tion in taking orders and can step into the unknown quickly, assess a situation and take on a leadership role when necessary. Officer Joseph Wickersham the Crisis Negotiation Team, where he deals with hostage ne- gotiation and volatile situations. Officer Giaimo has received numerous commendations, including: The State of New Jersey Heroism Award, recognition for managing a clean-up detail in Liberty State Park after Hurricane Sandy and recognition for his volunteer work at Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks. Juvenile Medium Security Facility Officer Joseph Wickersham has been with the NJ Department of Corrections since 2001, working with the Juvenile Justice Commission. He has worked in the Camden County Youth De- tention Center and currently is the school officer at the Juvenile Medium Security Facility in Bordentown. He is responsible for overseeing the academic programs as well as the safety and se- curity of the facility. Officer Yazmin Casiano Mid-State Correctional Facility Officer Yazmin Casiano has been with the NJ Department of Corrections for 18 years. Officer Yazmin’s family is from Puerto Rico and lost everything in last year’s hurricane. Officer Casiano did not know for weeks if her family was alive but despite this heartache, she came to work with a positive attitude. She is a former Officer of the Month as a result of the role she played in the reopening of the Mid-State Correctional Facility. Officer Joseph Giaimo Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility Officer Joseph Giaimo has been with the NJ Department of Corrections since 1993. He is assigned to the full minimum unit as the Transportation Officer and is the primary means of trans- portation of staff for emergency response. He is a member of Officer Wesley Butts from the New Jersey State Prison. Officer Wesley Butts New Jersey State Prison Officer Wesley Butts has been with the NJ Department of Corrections for 14 years. He is the Pipe Major of the New Jer- sey Department of Corrections Band, where he represents the department as well as New Jersey in coordinating ceremonies while preforming at functions and memorials.
