who were lost due to the dangers of the job.
“I’ve done a lot of great things with the PBA,” Kovar stated. “But
this is one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had.”
Kovar’s pride in the experience deepened as he recognized that
he was one of few who have been given the honor to be New Jersey’s
voice at the Vigil. But most of all, Kovar hoped that his presence at
the podium would remind the survivors that although the cost of
sacrifice is one that can never be fully repaid, their loved ones will
always be remembered, and they will never be alone.
“We’re here for them forever,” Kovar reiterated. “It’s not a one-
time thing. For the rest of our lives, we’re always going to be there
for the fallen officers’ families.
