Offi cer Jack Collins makes the acceptance speech after the Port Authority Offi cers were named winners of the Citizens’ Choice award, which is given to one of the Top Cops honorees at the end of the ceremony. dent Ed Cetnar. “I’ve got to say, Lieutenant Rubio and the two sergeants made decisions that were so immediate and precise,” Cetnar explained. “Thousands of people had to be evacuated within minutes out of the busiest bus terminal in the world, and we did it in a manner where nobody got killed, nobody got hurt, we arrested the terrorist and we were back open for business a couple of hours later.” Clearly Cetnar wasn’t the only one who recognized the magni- tude of this response, as the Port Authority Top Cops also received the Citizen’s Choice Award given to one of the honorees at the end of the evening. Collins expressed the gratitude felt by the en- tire response unit for the support and recognition of an event that changed their lives but thankfully took nobody else’s. “The one thing that we’ve been since that day is grateful,” Collins stressed. “Grateful that we got home safe to our families and for all of the respect that we’ve gotten from everyone.”  www.njcopsmagazine.com ■ JUNE 2018 33
